London: A commemorative ceremony marking 20 years of the Association of Pakistani Physicians and Surgeons (APPS UK), the largest organisation of Pakistani doctors in the UK and Europe, was held in a beautiful hall of the Marriott Hotel in London, the British capital. Doctors from the public health sector across the UK, along with their families, participated in large numbers. On this occasion, Prof. Rafay Farooqi, Dr. Sohail Chaughtai, Dr. Saima Niaz, Prof. Hasan Mukhtar, Dr. Azhar Aslam, and others gave detailed briefings on various topics related to human health and life.
The event also included the inauguration of the British chapter of the University of Lahore, where prizes were distributed to graduates of the institution. Dr. Usman Khan, head of the Association of Pakistani Physicians and Surgeons UK, highlighted the organisation’s 20-year performance. Doctors and others who have rendered outstanding services in the field of public health were honored with awards. Among the awardees were Prof. Benish Nazmeen, Raza Ahmed, Prof. Amjad Shad, Dr. Rashid Riaz, and Dr. Hamid Al Mashraqi. Certificates of appreciation were also presented to young participants of various painting competitions.
Female singer Sona Walia entertained the attendees with her performance. At the end of the ceremony, the newly elected officials of APPS UK took their oaths of office, including the newly elected President Dr. Aamir Sarfraz, General Secretary Dr. Rashid Riaz, Media Head Dr. Safdar Khan, Finance Secretary Dr. Faisal, and Social Secretary Saima Niaz. A sumptuous meal was arranged for the distinguished guests from near and far.
