Afzal Khan MP: Over the last few months, places of worship – gurdwaras, mosques, churches, shuls and temples – have been life lines for our communities. This attack is a disgrace, and I hope the perpetrator will be caught. Solidarity with Britain’s Sikh community.
Cllr Gulfraz Nawaz, Cllr Shiraz Khan, Cllr Fareed Hussain and Cllr Jangir Khan condemned the attack on the Derby Gurdwara. An individual attacked the Guru Arjun Dev Gurdwara on Stanhope St, l Derby. Police have informed them that the suspect has been arrested. They expressed their views and reassured the Sikh & Hindu Community ? “as local Councillors we strongly condemn this attack and we all stand united with you. We will not tolerate such behaviour from any individuals who cause issues within any community or their places of worship.The Indian community should feel safe in the knowledge that the Pakistani community is their friend and we share their disbelief as to why this happened. Here in Derby we live side by side as friends.
Councillor Ahmad Bostan: Our places of worship even whilst closed have been a lifeline for so many. Disgusting deplorable vandalism, thoughts, prayers and support with our Sikh brothers and sisters. The venom of hate must be destroyed and those responsible brought to justice #HateCrime.
Muslim Council for Britain (MCB): This is an appalling hate crime on a Gurdwara. It is important that local communities come together and show solidarity against this cowardly attack on a place of worship. The perpetrators should face the full strength of the law @SikhFedUK.
