Birmingham: A Vaccination awareness campaign has been launched by Kashmir Development Foundation in collaboration with NHS to increase flu and COVID-19 vaccine booster Jab within British Kashmiri communities.
All those over 50 years of age or at risk of having a weakened immune system against flu and COVID-19, despite being vaccinated are encouraged to get a Covid-19 booster Jab.
On Friday 23rd December KDF volunteers, Birmingham City Council members and local GPs distributed multi-lingual flyers in Pahari, Urdu and English in front of the local Jamia Masjid Zia-ul-Quran. The Imam has highlighted importance of Vaccination in his sermon where over 500 congregation were in attendance. The flyers explaining the importance of taking flu and COVID-19 Vaccine were distributed and delivered to homes in the locality through Walkabout activity in the Alum Rock area.
Alum Rock comprises of an ethnic majority of Kashmiri and Pakistani community. Local councillors and community leaders also took part alongside Sardar Aftab Khan, Executive Director, Kashmir Development Foundation UK, MP Tahir Ali, Councillor Mohammed Idrees, Chair of Housing and Neighbourhood Overview Scrutiny Committee Birmingham City Council, Councillor Saqib Khan, Councillor Amir Khan, former Assistant Leader of Birmingham City Council Ansar Ali Khan, former Councillor Muhammad Aikhlaq, Secretary General All-Party International Kashmir Coordination Committee Sajid Yousaf, Dr. Shaukat Ali Khan.
The KDF NHS Vaccination uptake campaign and Walkabout activity was covered by leading ethnic media channel WNTV UK and other local media outlets.
