Leicester: Grand opening of TaraSansthanUK Charity branch was held in Leicester by Lord Mayor of Leicester Councillor Deepak Bajaj. Miss Leicester Tia Carter was accompanied on the occasion by important personalities from various walks of life.
They were given a detailed briefing by Line Devinder Prasad on various projects of his welfare organisation. BOPA (British Organisation for People of Asian Origin) & Coventry Mercia Lions Club have been working together over the years to serve people in need in our communities.
The main aim was to enable various Lions Clubs in UK to fulfil their responsibility of helping people with “Vision” and raise funds to support cataract operations for people in deprived communities in India.
The head office Tara Sansthan UK is located in Coventry but since many donors in Leicester also wanted to help, it was decided to set up a branch of Tara Sansthan UK in Leicester.
Lion Acharya Pandit Ravi Bhushan performed Pooja ceremony and Divas (lamps) were lit by Lord Mayor and other dignitaries.
It was a fantastic outcome when people attending the event sponsored 15 eye camps costing £ 250 per camp, over £4000 in sponsorship and other donations was raised by Lion Manjeet Rai giving an amazing start to their Leicester branch.
Inauguration of Leicester Branch opened a new chapter for people who need help with their vision which is a priceless gift any one can give to someone.
