Leicester: The BPPA 23rd Annual Conference and CPD Program was held at the Leicester Marriott Hotel, Crave Park, Smith Way, Leicester, offering a rich blend of knowledge, information, learning, and entertainment.
Dr. Rais Irfan, Secretary of the organisation, welcomed the distinguished guests, while Dr. Asad Malik and others explained the purpose of this important event.
The conference featured insightful talks, including Professor Alex Mitchel on utilising AI resources in mental health, Hayley Crosby on Safeguarding – adapting to the changing landscapes, Dr. Andrew Hoyle, GMC Assistant Director of decisions in fitness to practice on myth-busting GMC disciplinary proceedings, Dr. Bilal Malik on “Beyond the Skin: Exploring the Deep Connections Between Dermatology and Mental Health,” Dr. Jon Van Niekerk on reclaiming psychiatry as a psychological profession, and a debate between Dr. Helen Crimlisk and Dr. Rais Irfan on whether non-medical ACs (MPAC) might replace consultant psychiatrists.
RCPsych President Dr. Lade Smith shared a video message, Dr. Shahid Latif provided updates about the organisation, and Dr. Farina Tahira announced a presentation by poster prize winners.
Additionally, Dr. Subodh Dave, RCPsych Dean, updated attendees on the RCPsych curriculum, and others expanded on various topics. Workshops were arranged for both senior and junior doctors. After the conference and CPD program, participants enjoyed an evening of music, a DJ, dancing, and dinner, which offered the perfect opportunity for relaxation and celebration. The attendees enthusiastically joined in, dancing, singing, and enjoying the event to the fullest.
