UK hosts moot to stop G20 from violating UN Charter on Kashmir

BIRMINGHAM, UK – Holding any event related G20 in Indian Illegally-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIoJK) is brazen violation of UN Charter and international, speakers said at a conference in this British city, calling on the world’s top 20 economies to not enter IIoJK on Indian invitation.

“India inviting G20 member nations to participate in tourism-related event in IIoJK is a slap on the wisdom of these countries besides violation of the UN Security Council and Un Charter,” said Fahim Kayani, president of Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK, who chaired the conference in Birmingham on Sunday.

India, current chair of the G20, is hosting a three-day tourism-related event in IIoJK next month and has invited the members of the group to visit Srinagar, the capital of UN-designated disputed region.

“This is an attempt to create a façade of normalcy and peace in IIoJK, especially after India re-annexed Kashmir in 2019,” Kayani said, warning the G20 nations against falling to trap of India.

Dr Khalid Mahmood, chief of Jama’at-e-Islami Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan, lauded the role of Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK for rising the occasion to spread awareness about nefarious designs of India regarding IIoJK by holding such G20 event in the region.

“It is important to show mirror to these countries and call out their hypocrisy,” said Mahmood, who was chief guest on the occasion.

Mahmood said the international community cannot remain silent on Kashmir while itself claiming to be champions of international law.

Muhammad Ghalib President Tehreek-e-Kashmir Europe, Mufti Fazal Ahmed Qadri, Khawaja Inam ul Haq, Mulana Tariq Masood, Ch Ikram ul Haq , Mufti Abdul Majeed Nadeem , Naila Azmat, Sahibzada Farooq ul Qadri, Iram Tahir , Hafiz Muhammed Idrees , Iftikhar Ahmed Jugno , Qamar Abbas, Qari Hafiz Nisar said “India is the top violator of international law as it illegally, through the barrel of gun, occupies Kashmir and has, so far, refused to abide by the UNSC resolutions to grant Kashmiris their right to self-determination,”

To halt G20 members from traveling to IIoJK at India’s invitation, Kayani announced that TeK UK is launching a campaign to “tell truth the world about India’s misleading steps” regarding Kashmir.

“Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK and Europe will hold protests in major cities of the UK and Europe,” he said, adding, TeK UK is dispatching letters and petitions to all MPs and MEPs in the European nation.

“A petition will be submitted at 10 Downing Street, London, the prime minister’s office in this regard to seek British government’s help to withdraw from the event,” said Kayani.
