DFP pays rich tributes to Gawkadal martyrs

Hails APPKG chief for raising concerns over HR violations in IoK

Srinagar: Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party has on Tuesday paid eulogising tributes to the martyrs of Gawkadal who were mercilessly killed by the Indian occupation forces on 21 January 1990.

In a statement a spokesman of the party (DFP) said that the massacre goes down in the history of Kashmir as one of the most terrific incidents of mass-killings that will continue to bruise the hearts and minds of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Terming it as worst kind of state-terrorism he said on that fateful day, a crackdown was also held at Chota-bazaar, Kani-kadal areas where thousands of men women, children and elderly were subjected to severe torture, torment and humiliation”. The spokesman while loading the supreme sacrifices of the Kashmiri martyrs said, “We are indebted to martyrs who laid down their lives for freedom”.

The spokesman reiterated Kashmiris’ pledge to take the ongoing liberation struggle to its logical end despite all odds.

Meanwhile, the DFP spokesman in a separate statement thanked MP Debbie Abrahams Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Kashmir Group (APPKG) for raising concerns about the grave Human Rights Violations, Revocation of Special Status, illegal and arbitrary detention of Kashmiri leaders, in IOK.

The spokesman said that the international community must take effective cognisance of the rights situation in Kashmir and play its role in holding the Indian government accountable for the crimes its troops have committed against Kashmiris.
