Kashmir Diaspora Applauds UK MP’s Defence of Prophet PBUH

London: Following from MP Naz Shah’s impassioned comments protecting religious sentiments, President Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK Fahim Kayani and President World Kashmir Freedom Movement Muzzammil Ayyub Thakur applauded her vigorous efforts to highlight the blatant disparity between Muslim sentiments and those of other faiths. The British Government had proposed as bill to ‘protect emotional harm connected with damaging of statues’ where Ms Shah raised the point “If people can understand emotional connections to statues, they can understand the connection Muslims have with the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

T-e-K and WKFM in a joint statement said that “freedom of speech and expression cannot be used to criminalise nor belittle the Muslim community and all forms of intolerance must be quashed, particularly in the face of rising Islamophobia. Naz has been an ardent advocate of civil rights and liberties, and always at the forefront to support the people of Indian Occupied Kashmir. We welcome her statement in the Parliament and look forward to a continued relationship leading to peace, justice and freedom for Muslims anywhere in the world”.

Kayani and Thakur thanked Ms Shah’s record on human rights in Indian Occupied Kashmir and pledged to support her efforts on eradicating rampant anti-Muslim behaviour in the United Kingdom, hoping to build a stronger cause for Muslims and better representation at every level.
