London: Pakistan High Commissioner to the UK, Moazzam Ahmad Khan attended a meeting of cross-party British Parliamentarians convened by Debbie Abrahams MP, Chairperson APPG on Kashmir in the House of Commons on 24 May 2023.
The High Commissioner briefed the Parliamentarians about Pakistan’s concerns over the controversial G-20 Meeting recently organised by the Indian Government in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He said by organizing this meeting in an internationally recognized disputed territory, India had tried to portray normalcy in the valley. However, he noted that the event not only highlighted the plight of the Kashmiri people under Indian occupation but also exposed the servility of that country.
The High Commissioner called upon the international community such as G-20 to uphold international human rights obligations and help implement the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions on Kashmir. He strongly urged these G-20 countries to play their role in halting human rights violations and repealing draconian laws including demographic engineering in IIOJK.
The participants of the meeting included Debbie Abrahams MP, Chairperson APPG on Kashmir; Shadow Minister Barrister Imran Hussain MP, Senior Vice Chairman APPG on Kashmir; Shadow Minister Afzal Khan MP; James Daly MP, Co-Chairman Conservative Friends of Kashmir UK; Rachel Hopkins MP, Vice Chairperson Labour Friends of Kashmir UK; Sarah Owen MP, Vice Chairperson APPG on Kashmir; Paul Blomfield MP; Jill Furness MP; Sam Terry MP; Alison Thewliss MP; Judith Cummins MP; Mohammad Yaseen MP; and Raja Najabat Hussain, Chairman Jammu Kashmir Self Determination Movement International.
