On Black Day, Kashmiris hit British streets, flag India’s trans-national terrorism

LONDON – The international community on Sunday was again reminded about illegal occupation of Kashmir by India as Kashmiris, Pakistanis as well as their allies hit streets in the UK to mark ‘Black Day’ against New Delhi.

The demonstrations were held to recall grave violation of international law as well as independence of Kashmir when India sent its marauding forces to occupy the UN-designated disputed territory on Oct. 27 in 1949.

Demonstrations began from outside the British Prime Minister’s Office at 10 Downing Street London towards Indian High Commission in London.

Fahim Kayani, president Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK and All Parties International Kashmir Coordination Committee (APIKCC) led the demonstrations.

“Until today, India continues to illegally occupy the UN-designated disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir and obstruct implementation of the UN resolutions that call for holding plebiscite in the region,” said Kayani.

Kayani and others submitted hard copy of a petition addressed to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was submitted to Indian High Commission in London.

The petition asking Modi to prepare for holding a free and fair plebiscite in Kashmir as demanded by the UN.

“We reject illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir by Indian military forces who are involved in crimes against humanity as well as war crimes in Jammu and Kashmir.

Kayani reminded the international community that Kashmiris were marking the black day at a time when India stands “fully exposed” for her extra-territorial crimes against humanity and trans-national terrorism.

“Indian regime and its agencies have been fully exposed and indicted in murder, hooliganism, mafia raj, money laundering and drug smuggling,” Kayani said, referring to cases filed against RAW agents in the US and Canada.

Kayani said: “day is not far when cases of war crimes as well as genocide against Indian state will be filed in International Court of Justice and at the ICC.”

Inam ul Haq, who is secretary general of the APIKCC, said: “Kashmiris are engaged in a genuine, internationally backed movement for liberation from illegal Indian occupation.”

Slamming India for imposing graveyard silence in Jammu and Kashmir by arresting and falsely labeling pro-freedom people, Haq said such actions must end immediately.

“India must abolish draconian laws in Kashmir, such as AFSPA, PSA, and UAPA, which violate numerous international human rights standards,” he said.

“To achieve the right to self-determination for Kashmiris, India must prepare for a trilateral discussion on Kashmir involving the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Pakistan, and India.”

To do so, he added, “India must begin demilitarizing the region as it causes significant environmental harm and human loss.”

Ghulam Muhammad Safi, convener of All Parties Hurriyat conference, addressed the demonstrations over phone.

Zafar Qureshi native of Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, addressed the demonstrations.

Tehreek-e-Kashmir also organized rallies and conferences in main cities of Europe including Oslo, Barcelona, Copenhagen, Glasgow, Brescia.

Duyring his speech, Muhammad Ghalib, president Tehreek-e-Kashmir Europe, flagged the issue of fake encounters, arrests, destruction of properties as well as muzzling of media in Kashmir.
