Brussels: A demonstration was held in Brussels, the European Headquarters, in order to express solidarity with the oppressed people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir including Kashmiri prisoners illegally detained in the Indian jails witnessing rapidly spread of deadly virus of covid-19.
The gathering was organized by Kashmir Council Europe (KC-EU) in front of European institutions at Place Schuman in the Belgium’s capital city on Tuesday.
The demonstrators wearing masks were standing within the social distance according the SOPs of the pandemic. Holding Kashmiri flags, banners and placards having slogans, they called for end of the atrocities in occupied Kashmir and immediate release of all Kashmiri prisoners in the Indian jails including Shabbir Shah, Yasin Malik, Mussarat Alim, Asia Andrabi, Ayaz Akbar and Farooq Dar.
On the occasion, KC-EU Chairman, Ali Raza Syed, said, as the corona virus has been widely spread in the Indian jails including Tihar prison, threats to the life of the Kashmiri prisoners have been increased and their immediate release is essential for safety of their life.
He also condemned martyrdom of veteran Kashmir figure Ashraf Sehrai who died due to denial of immediate necessary medical treatment by the Indian jail authorities recently. Ali Raza Syed said, there should be an independent investigation concerning suddenly death of Ashraf Sehrai in the illegal Indian detention.
He called for immediate release of the Kashmiri prisoners facing life threats in the Indian jails.
The protesters also called that international community including EU and UN should take immediate notice of the worst human rights situation in the occupied territory and as well the severe conditions of the Kashmiri prisoners in the Indian jails. They said, the international bodies should pressurize India for end of the atrocities in the occupied Kashmir and release of the Kashmiris from the Indian jails.
