London: Sardar Manmohan Singh Khalsa, a founder member and senior leader of the Dal Khalsa, a prominent Sikh nationalist organisation, passed away on 20 November 2017 after a long period of ill heath. He was an untiring advocate for an independent Sikh state of Khalistan in the Sikh homeland in Punjab.
In addition to his work related to the Sikh freedom struggle against the massive oppression of his people by the Indian state he raised those human rights issues at various international fora, including at UN lobbying events. He forged great friendships with Pakistani and Kashmiri people and was a leading light in the World Muslim Sikh Federation. He will be greatly missed as a politician and skillful orator.
