AJK Legislative Assembly unanimously passed a resolution against Indian atrocities in IIOJ&K , presented by Abdul Rashid Turabi Former Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami AJK & GB
The resolution presented by Member AJK legislative assembly, Abdul Rashid Turabi in the session of the AJK Legislative Assembly strongly condemns the successive Indian measures aimed at changing the demography of Jammu and Kashmir post August 05, 2019, resulting in issuance of over three million domiciles to non-state Hindus.
Issuance of domiciles to Hundreds of thousands more [outsiders] are in the process. According to the Indian plan, over the next one and a half years, between 4 million and 5 million non-state Hindus will be issued domiciles with an aim to impose a Hindu extremist chief minister in IIOJK through so-called elections after the self-styled delimitation process.
Besides, the service structure has also been ruined as a result of which Kashmiri employees are being replaced by RSS-sponsored personnel. Kashmiris are being deprived of their property on the pretext of defense needs. Their properties and houses are being set on fire in the name of Cordon and Search Operation, innocent youth are martyred in the name of encounters and thousands have been arrested and subjected to enforced disappearance.
The resolution said that despite the outcry by international human rights organizations, media and intellectuals, India has been arrogantly pursuing the agenda of genocide of Kashmiris.
The session expresses concern over the continued detention of Hurriyat leaders Syed Ali Gilani, Shabbir Ahmed, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Ashraf Sahrai, Musarrat Alam Butt, Aasiya Andrabi, Dr. Abdul Hameed Fayyaz and thousands of their associates and workers, and calls on the international community to take effective measures to counter India’s strategy based on genocide of Kashmiris and snatching of their identity, and force India to reverse August 05, 2019 actions and black laws, release Hurriyat leaders and other detainees, end the military siege of the occupied territory and allow representatives of international human rights organizations, relief agencies and the media to visit the occupied territory.
The session welcomes the recent ceasefire understanding between Pakistan and India and demands of India to stop operations against unarmed Kashmiris and pave the way for a peaceful settlement of the Kashmir dispute.
Despite the past 30 years of Indian state terrorism, the struggle of determined Kashmiris for freedom has proved invincible. Therefore, while reading the writing on the wall, India should fulfill the promises made to the Kashmiris regarding the grant of right to self-determination in the interest of regional and global peace and security, and in this regard create the atmosphere conducive to provide an opportunity to the Kashmiris to sit together.
The session demands that the concerns of Syed Ali Gilani and other Hurriyat leaders regarding ceasefire understanding be addressed and the Kashmiris be taken on board before any talks with India because they are the principal party to the dispute.
This session also fully supports the demand of the freedom lovers of the occupied state that the bodies of Shaheed Maqbool Butt and Shaheed Afzal Guru, buried in Tihar Jail, be released for burial at martyrs’ graveyard in Srinagar, in the land for whose freedom they sacrificed their life.
In the backdrop of Indian initiatives post August 5, 2019, Government of Pakistan, while respecting the public opinion, decided to suspend bilateral trade [with India] and recalled its High Commissioner from New Delhi. This was applauded by Kashmiris and the people of Pakistan and it was said that improvement in relations with India are linked to the repeal of Indian moves in Kashmir.
The session welcomes the recent decision regarding trade relations with India and hopes that Government of Pakistan would link the progress in relations with India to the progress on the Kashmir issue and will make all-out efforts to expose Indian atrocities globally, and will formulate a comprehensive and aggressive diplomatic strategy, in this regard.
The session also wants to make it clear that in the light of UN resolutions, achieving the right to self-determination is the final and lasting solution to the problem. The Kashmiris living in the occupied territory and around the world are committed to this cause. This is the principled position of the Government of Pakistan and the State of Pakistan which should not be compromised, anyway.
Also, a solution contrary to the aspirations of Kashmiri people and basic principle will not be accepted and no artificial solution will be allowed to be imposed.
The resolution presented by MLA Pir Ali Raza Bukhari said that this session of the AJK Legislative Assembly strongly condemns the ongoing Indian military siege, human rights violations, invoking of all black laws, arrests of Hurriyat leaders, civilians, extrajudicial killings, sanctions on media and human rights organizations in occupied Kashmir and calls on the international community to play its role in bringing to end Indian atrocities on the Kashmiri people and implement UN Security Council resolutions on the Kashmir issue.
This House expresses solidarity with the peaceful citizens of occupied Kashmir and calls on the international community and human rights organizations to break the silence on the situation in Kashmir.
India wants to change the demography in occupied Kashmir. The August 05 move has increased the importance of early resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
The session demands an end to the illegal siege of Kashmiris; ban on media should be lifted, serious human rights violations be stopped, curfew not be imposed, access to foreign media should be given to occupied Kashmir like Azad Kashmir, ban on internet and social media should be lifted, atrocities against women and children should be stopped, educational institutions be opened, political activities be allowed.
India should spare the Kashmiris and withdraw its troops from occupied Kashmir so that they could have a chance to decide their future in a free environment through referendum.
