Birmingham: Pakistan Press Club Midlands International called an important emergency meeting. Central body members along with a number of other members of Pakistan Press Club Midlands International were present in the meeting. President Pakistan Press Club Midlands International Asif Mahmoud Bratlvi, Former Secretary, Information and Broadcasting, S M Irfan Taher, Secretary Finance Imran Bashir, Mateen Sehrai, Mujtaba Rehman, Raja Khawar Bashir, Shakeel Ahmed Dar, Mohammad Basharat, Mohammad Saleem Shahzad. In addition, the meeting was attended by General Secretary Raja Nasir Mahmood and Zahid Khattak, former President and the current senior vice president participated through a telephone.
On this occasion, all the members of the club, unanimously approved a resolution against the President and General Secretary of Pakistan Press Club Midlands International for their ignorance towards the problems of journalists and also making the press club ineffective and uninfluenced. Due to which no attention was paid to the complaints and problems of journalists. The constitutional status of President and General Secretary of the Pakistan Press Club Midlands International has ended. None of these positions can be exploited in the name of Pakistan Press Club Midlands and neither the coverage of any program can be done by using the name and designation of Press Club. Press Club’s Former Secretary Information and Broadcasting, S M Irfan Tahir, Secretary Finance Imran Bashir, Senior journalist Mateen Sehari, Raja Khawar Bashir, Muhammad Basharat, Mujtaba Rehman, Shakeel Ahmed Dar, Mohammad Saleem Shahzad, Khushi Qureshi officially announced on the occasion that President and General Secretary Pakistan Press Club Midlands International have lost the privileges of their positions after the success of motion of no-confidence against them and keeping in view the rights and advice of the journalists a new action plan will be announced as soon as possible. They also emphasized that any encroach against journalist will not be tolerated in any case. All journalists will be voiced for the rights of the community. The case of Former Secretary Information, and Broadcasting, S M Irfan Tahir in which he was allegedly accused of false allegations and later a campaign was launched against him, was included in the agenda of the meeting. Illegal designated post in the press club, last one-year’s performance of Pakistan Press Club Midlands International and other issues related to the professional journalists were also discussed in detail.
