Birmingham: South and City College hosted the SCCB in the Community event last night, bringing together a diverse range of communities and sectors. Attendees included representatives from Birmingham University, Birmingham City Football Club, local businesses, community groups, local media, the NHS, Asda, West Midlands Police, Crimestoppers, and multi-faith organizations.
The event provided a platform for networking and showcased South and City College’s leadership in community engagement. Hosted by Tom Ross, the evening featured keynote speeches from Professor David Mba, Vice-Chancellor of Birmingham City University; Raaj Shamji, Head of Public and Community Engagement; and Antony Isherwood, Foundation Director at Birmingham City Football Club. West Midlands Mayor Richard Parker also shared a video message for the occasion.
Principal Mike Hopkins and Deputy Principal echoed the college’s commitment to giving back to the community. Mohammed Zafran, South and City College’s Community Liaison Officer, who played a key role in organising the event alongside his team, expressed gratitude to all attendees. Many guests described it as the blockbuster community event of the year, emphasising the valuable connections they gained.
