Birmingham: AJN Local Heroes and “The Be Inspired” Youth Gala & Awards 2018 was held at Hotel Banqueting Suite Aston Villa FC Trinity Road, Aston. It was Hosted by Dr Beverley Lindsey OBE OD Chairman AJN and Vice Lord Lieutenant of the West Midlands. The event was attended by Naval Regional Commander, Mayor’s, Cllrs, Faith leaders and diverse community members. Keynote speakers were Mr Reuben Lynch, Lord Mayor of Birmingham Councillor Yvonne Mosquito, Minister Councillor Jamaican High Commissioner Mrs Tracey Blackwood, Metro Mayor Dr Andy Street West Midlands Combined Authority, Brigadier Graeme Jock Fraser MBE ADC Royal Marines Naval Regional Commander Wales and Western England, Yuri Matischen from the British Transplant, Professor Emeritus Sir Geoff Palmer OBE, Mr Tony Kerr and others. They paid a special tribute to World War 1 and World War 2 Jamaican soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the safety and security of Great Britain. They all shared their views and stated that we should offer opportunities and a chance for our youth to live in a world of peace prosperity, harmony, interfaith and have access to intercultural activities. This was to promote an encourage Jamaican Culture tradition music and art. Also present were Ramesh Alexander, Lt Commander Suzan Lynch, Dellano, Lewis, Bee Niice, Zara Beiley, Maxwell, Cordell Jeffers, Isaiah Wellington, Sanchia Mowatt, Ms Deuajne Simmond, Mr Lovel Gibbs, Mrs Sharon Sewell, Mr Derick Francis, Ms Estella Edwards, Mr Christopher Innerarity, Mrs Maxine Douglas and many others.
