The Birmingham Thyagaraja Festival is the most popular festival in the Midlands and across the UK.
The festival, in its fifth year, is supported by the WMCA, Consul General of India in Birmingham and in partnership with a host of premier institutions and corporates.
The objective of the festival is to pay a musical tribute to the singing saint and composer Thyagaraja and also to help the children and young adults to learn, sustain and take pride of the rich Indian heritage through the classical music and dance forms.
The festival was attended by Mr John Crabtree OBE, Lord Lt of the WM, Dr Aman Puri, IFS, Consul General of India in Birmingham, Dr Paul Sabapathy CVO CBE, Patron of ShruthiUK and other distinguished dignitaries.
There were over 50 participants from all across the UK, from India, U.S. and Canada- comprising of young children and adults, alongside professionals who took part in the festival.
