Donald Trump is coming to Britain on Friday 13 July, and he will face mass protest wherever he goes. One poll this year showed that 4 percent of the population—or around 2 million people—would “definitely” take part in protests against the visit. We need demonstrations, workplace actions including walkouts if possible, blockades and occupations. This will be a chance to hit back against the president who has showered billons on the rich and attacked trade unions. Who has rammed through repeated rounds of racist laws and gloried in sexism and harassment.
Birmingham Peoples Assembly are organising a public meeting to help build and publicize the demonstrations.
Thursday 21st June, 7 pm, Priory Rooms, 40 Bull Street, B4 6AF
Speakers: Howard Beckett, Unite the Union Assistant General Secretary
Councilor Nicky Brennan
Nita Sangera, UCU President
Annette Rochester, PCS NEC
Weyman Bennett, Stand Up To Racism
Other speakers to be announced.

No to Trump visit motion for trade unions
This branch notes: Trump’s presidency has been mired in racism with his security wall and Muslim ban
We are living in the era of Donald Trump’s racism and the growth of support for the far right across Europe.
In Britain we see the Tory government scapegoating migrants, refugees and attacking the rights of the Windrush Generation.
The Muslim community have been scapegoated and the Tories are playing with the future of EU nationals in Brexit negotiations. BAME people face institutional racism in housing, employment, education and the justice system. The issue of black deaths in custody tragically proves to many that black lives don’t matter.
The racist right in Britain are attempting to re-organise with mobilisations by the Football Lads Alliance (FLA) and the ‘Democratic’ FLA, linking up with UKIP and the likes of ex English Defence League leader (EDL) Tommy Robinson.
In these circumstances we need to build the biggest possible broad based anti-racist movement across Britain. That means building the movement’s roots in every town and city.
This branch resolves to
1 Oppose the visit planned by US President Donald Trump
2 To support the national demonstration called by Together against Trump on Friday 13 July
3 To support the local demonstrations called by Birmingham Together Against Trump on Thursday 12 July and Friday 13 July
