London: A special meeting took place in Luton between the former Head of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference of Kashmir Syed Yousuf Naseem Shah who is currently visiting Britain and Peace and Human Rights Activist and renowned scholar,philanthropist & director INSPAD Gohar Almass Khan MEE along with Deputy Editor Ausaf London Ijaz Fazal, Syed Kamran Bukhari and Syed Liaqat Shah Head of the Pashtoon Community in Yorkshire .
The message from the fore mentioned Leaders was unequivocal that the bloodshed and massacre of innocent Rohingya community in Burma Must Stop and the World must exert pressure on the Myanmar Government.
It is a Human Rights issue and Must be addressed by the World leaders on an urgent basis before it’s too late, the silence of the West and Arab countries, in particular, is beyond their comprehension they added.
How can ethnic cleansing on such a scale which is mainly targeting Muslims by the Myanmar authorities happen in the 21st century, the entire World should feel ashamed over their silence on a tragedy of this scale, the UN must intervene to Stop it and penalise those responsible bringing them to the International Court of Justice for crimes against Humanity, This reminds us of Srebrenica and Kashmir massacre they said.
Myanmar is facing growing condemnation from the Muslim world over its failure to halt the violence directed toward the minority Rohingya ethnic group, amid protests across the globe.
So far, over 125,000 Rohingya have fled to neighboring Bangladesh to escape escalating violence in their native Rakhine State, according to the UN.
Leaders of countries with majority Muslim populations including Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkey, Bangladesh, and Pakistan have led efforts to increase pressure on the Myanmar government.
Malaysia’s foreign minister summoned Myanmar’s ambassador to express its concern, according to state-run Bernama news, and Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi held talks Monday with Aung San Suu Kyi, the de facto leader of Myanmar.
In contrast, the Arab and Western leaders have so far appeared reluctant to speak out strongly on the issue. Western world’s attention is still fixed elsewhere in Asia, on the nuclear standoff in North Korea and the Arabs are maintaining their usual meaningful silence on any human rights issues.
Politicians and heads of states particularly in the West, are torn between their subjective affection with the Nobel prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi and the very tragic reality of bloodbath of the Muslims, in particular, taking place in Burma.
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres released a statement Tuesday saying he is “deeply concerned about the security, humanitarian and human rights situation in Myanmar’s Rakhine state.Guterres said, “the authorities in Myanmar must take determined action to put an end to this vicious cycle of violence and to provide security and assistance to all those in need.”
Worryingly UNICEF released a statement saying that, of the Rohingya who have crossed into Bangladesh, “as many as 80% of them are women and children.”
The government of Myanmar, which is also known as Burma, blames “terrorists” for starting the violence. Allegedly, Rohingya militants killed 12 security officers in border post attacks almost two weeks ago, according to state media, intensifying the latest crackdown.
The Rohingya, who are denied citizenship by Myanmar, are considered some of the most persecuted people in the world. The predominantly Buddhist country says they are Bangladeshi and Bangladesh says they’re Burmese.It is the second time in less than a year that a military crackdown has led to a mass exodus and thousands of innocent Humans slaughtered right under the eyes of authorities.
The Question Remains if the World keeps there eyes, ears and mouths shut Are the Muslims in India and Kashmir next to be butchered in a similar way under the supervision of Government ??
The Answer is, in Modi’s India everything is possible especially against the minorities including Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians.
