Birmingham:15th August 2018, The 71st Independence Day of India was celebrated in Town Hall Organised by the Indian Consulate General of Birmingham and Hosted by Consul General of India Dr Aman Puri, the stage secretary’s were Mr & Mrs. The event was attended by MEP, Mayor’s, Cllrs, Faith leaders and diverse community members. The event speakers shared their views and said after 71 years we can say we achieved many things such as Indian has become the sixth world economy and we are developing day by day. They stated that we have to try to develop a strong relationship between India and Britain. Dance and musical groups presented a first class performance. They also payed a tribute to Indian Army Soldiers who made sacrifices for their nation and country. Also were present Lord Lieutenant West Midlands John Cadbury, Lord Mayor of Birmingham Councillor Yvonne Mosquito, Lord Mayor of Coventry Councillor John Blundell, MEP Neena Gill,, Vice Lord Lieutenant Dr Beverley Lindsey, Dr Martin Levermore, Former Mayor of Coventry Councillor Ram Lakha , Harmohinder Singh Bhatia Upashak, Former Mayor of Wolverhampton Councillor Tarsem Singh, Councillor Chaman Lal, Jas Jasbir Wouhra, Hans Banga, Manohar Lal, S M Ghulam Sarwar,Meera Sonecha,Ravinder Kumar, Balbir Kaler, Ramesh Alexander, Dr Paul Nischal, R K Mehmi, Arvinder Jain, Pandat Ravi Bhoshan, Swaran Talwar, Farooq Naseem and many others.
