Delimitation should be as per population (KVI)
London: Kashmir Voice International (KVI) in a statement issued in London has demanded the removal of all restrictions imposed on the people of Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A in August 2019. The people of Kashmir deserve to have and enjoy the same rights are being enjoyed by the people living in other parts of the country.
KVI therefore demands:
• The report made by delimitation commission for the increase of assembly seats may be reconsidered in consultation with the people of valley and distribution of the recommended seats
may be made to different regions on the basis of population.
• The delay in the installation of representative government in J & K should end and appropriate arrangements for elections to install people’s government be made after the restoration of the state as early as possible.
• Restrictions imposed including those due to Covid have affected the educational growth of our youth and children.
• Measures be adopted to compensate for the deficiencies so that our youth could compete equally while seeking admissions to courses in different universities.
• Youth be provided the financial and other required assistance and necessary guidance to set up their own industrial units and generate employment avenues.
• Steps be taken to fill up the thousands of job vacancies in different government departments in order to reduce the magnitude of unemployment.
• Businesses be financially assisted for their recovery and the generation of employment opportunities.
• Measures be taken for the protection and promotion of horticultural and handicraft industries in the state.
• Restrictions on the freedom of speech be removed and space provided to the people for free political, social and democratic activities.
• Political prisoners rotting in jails inside and outside the state be released
