The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) has organized the fourth Pak-UK trade and investment conference in Birmingham

Birmingham: The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) has organized the fourth Pak-UK trade and investment conference in Birmingham on November 28. Councillor Maureen Cornish JP Lord Mayor of Birmingham was the chief guest on the occasion.

Marks Smith President Greater Birmingham Common Wealth Chamber of Commerce, Dr Nasir Awan Senior Vice President GBCC, Shafiq Shahzad Minister of Trade and Investment High Commission of Pakistan in London, Bukhtawar Mir Acting Council General Consulate of Pakistan in Birmingham, Ian Ward leader of Birmingham City Council, Chairman Regional Trade Khurshid Barlas, Fahad Barlas and a large number business delegates attended the day long conference.

Saqib Rafiq, the president of the chamber, in his keynote address said that the main purpose of the trade conference was to increase bilateral cooperation in various sectors, especially IT services, food, poultry, garments, textiles and machinery. He said that Britain is a major trading partner of Pakistan. Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) have also be signed with the local chamber of Commerce, companies and Trade associations.

Saqib Rafiq said that after getting out of FATF’s grey list, the UK government has also removed Pakistan from its list of “High Risk Third Countries. This will build more confidence and attract more Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) in Pakistan. He emphasized on increasing networking sharing sector specific information JVs and UK brands in Pakistan. He also highlighted trade and Investment opportunities in Pakistan.

The conference was attended by more than 60 delegates representing different sectors including Oil & Gas, IT, Telecom, Gems, Food and Tourism etc.
