The West Midlands Turkish Association hosted a Republic Ball at Solihull Regency Hotel
Solihull: The West Midlands Turkish Association hosted a Republic Ball at Solihull Regency Hotel on Friday, October 25th, in celebration of the 101st anniversary of the foundation of the Republic of Turkey. The WMTA Chairman Dr Göktuğ Tenekeci and a committed volunteer group organised the event for approximately 150 guests, including esteemed figures such as the General Consul of Turkey Seyfi Onur Sayın and Former British MP Khalid Mahmood, alongside many other prominent community members.
The evening featured a captivating concert by renowned Turkish classical music artist Yıldırım Bekçi, creating a memorable atmosphere. Guests also enjoyed a performance by the Birmingham Turkish Folk Dance Group, showcasing traditional Turkish culture through dance. To further support the community, a raffle was held, with proceeds going toward the West Midlands Atatürk Turkish School, an institution founded by the association to promote Turkish language and culture among younger generations. The event was a celebration of Turkish heritage and a testament to the close-knit Turkish community in the West Midlands.
WMTA will be organising a business networking reception in connection with all communities of Birmingham during the month of November. Follow their website wmta.uk and social media accounts @wmturkishassociation on Instagram and Facebook for further announcements.
