Aghosh UK Hosts Philanthropy Award Ceremony to Honor Gaza Fundraising Efforts
London: Aghosh UK is one of the fastest-growing charities in the UK charity sector. Dozens of mosques and community organizations have joined hands with Aghosh UK to support its humanitarian initiatives.
To recognize the contributions of individuals and organizations that played a significant role in raising funds for Gaza, Aghosh UK organized the Aghosh Philanthropy Award Ceremony. The event was graced by H.E. Dr. Husam Zomlot, Palestine’s Ambassador, and Afzal Khan MP, who attended as keynote speakers.
Dr. Husam Zomlot and Afzal Khan MP commended Aghosh UK’s efforts for Gaza, acknowledging its dedication to humanitarian relief. The ambassador emphasized that the Aghosh UK team embodies the true meaning of Aghosh—a mother’s embrace. He remarked:
“The word Aghosh evokes a deep sense of care for those in need, seeking humanitarian aid. Aghosh UK treats people the way a mother holds her child in her lap—with warmth, love, and protection.”
During the ceremony, Dr. Husam Zomlot and Afzal Khan MP presented awards to Waltham Forest Islamic Association, Aisha Masjid Reading, Jamme Masjid Reading, The Mosque and Islamic Centre of Brent, Luton Central Mosque, Dr. Aisha Sharif (Health Workers for Palestine), Dr. Khalid Rehman, Nazim Uddin Mohammad, Doud Nazir Shafi, Dr. Muhammad Hawari, Dr. Azra Zyada, and others for their outstanding contributions.
Dr. Adeel Riaz, Chairman of Aghosh UK, said, “Dr. Husam Zomlot’s hard work and commitment to Palestine exemplify the true meaning of diplomacy, especially at a time when world powers failed to stand with the people of Gaza as they were deprived of aid. His diplomatic efforts for a ceasefire in power corridors are commendable. British politicians like Dr. Afzal Khan MP stood in support of a ceasefire in Gaza, even sacrificing powerful positions in the government.
Dr. Adeel Riaz then presented the Aghosh Award to H.E. Dr. Husam Zomlot and Dr. Afzal Khan MP in recognition of their services for Palestine.
