Commonwealth Cultural Mela organised by BOPA & Lions Club of Coventry Mercia

Coventry: Commonwealth Cultural Mela organised by BOPA and Coventry Lions Club of Mercia at Broad Gate square near historical statue of Lady Godiva. Hundreds of people from diverse communities including host community supported this wonderful event. The chief guest was Ms. Fleur Sexton Deputy Lieutenant West Midlands, Ms. Chenine Bethana creative director of culture 2020 and Mr. Paul Sabapathy, Former Lord Lieutenant of West Midlands were amongst some of the distinguished guests that attended this event. The aims of the Mela were to bring diverse communities on one stage to spread the message of love, peace and a sense of pride for everyone to be a part of city of Coventry and the whole British society. The event included performers from Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Ghana, Jamaica, Nigeria and many groups from host community. The British Army, Royal Navy, Royal Airforce supported by miss England beauty queens made the event very popular for the people who attended this Mela. The most successful part of the event was a diabetic workshop organised by Coventry Mercia lions club supported by Lions Clubs International. Also present were Councillor Abdul Khan, Deputy Leader of Coventry City council, Ms Angie Beaseley Director Ms England, Miss Birmingham Jodie Duckworth, Miss Leicester Saphire and Tia, Lt Commodore Suzanne Lynch Royal Navy, Squadron Leader Ramsey officers from the British army, Mr Shinda Ji Radio Panj, Lion Terlocha Singh, President of Mercia Lions, Lion Karam Bharij incoming President of Mercia Lions and District Diabetes officer and others.
