Popular Commonwealth Cultural Mela in Coventry | WNTVUK
Coventry: Coventry Mercia Lions supported by BOPA organised a commonwealth cultural Mela and Rakshabandhan at Coventry canal basin the UK city of Culture Coventry. It was hosted by Davinder Parsad. Many people from diverse communities including the host community supported this wonderful event. The chief guest was Lord Mayor of Birmingham John McNicholas, George Marsh, Deputy Lieutenant of Coventry ,Miss England Dr Bhasha Mukherjee, Royal Navy, Airforce and British Army personnel were amongst some of the distinguished guests that attended this event. The aims of the Mela were to bring diverse communities under one umbrella to spread the message of love, peace and a sense of pride for everyone to be a part of the UK city of culture Coventry and the whole British society. The event included performers from Pakistan, India and many groups from the host community. They also showcased food, clothing, jewelery and other stalls for the participants. In attendance were Lady Godiva, Ms Angie Beaseley Director Ms England, Miss Birmingham, Miss Leicester, Squadron Leader Amir Khan, Lion Terlocha Singh,Dr Rakesh Sachdev, President of BOPA, Shagufta Hamid Khan, Pandit Ravi Bhushan, Amina Sultani, Durdana Ansari, Shiv Chand, Usha Rishi, Anita Bedi District Lions Club, Kubra BiBi, Councillor Ram Lakha Former Lord Mayor of Coventry, Former Mayor of Rugby Ramesh Srivastva, Councillor Asha Masih, Dial Masih, Ms Rani, Naila Azmat, Chandani and others.
