Coventry: Coventry Mercia Lions Club starts the festive Diwali season by organising a grand Ghazal Night at the Tin Theatre located at Canal Basin in the heart of Coventry UK City of Culture 2021. This is the second major community led event after a very successful Commonwealth Cultural Mela & Rakshabandhan held at the Canal Basin in August. Lion Manjit Rai Chair of Fund Raising & Socials Committee and also Vice President of Coventry Mercia Lions Club was supported by Lion Davinder Prasad President, Lion DR Rakesh Sachdev President of BOPA, Lion Aman Rai and many other members of the club that has been recognised for the excellence in their work by Lion Jaap Dr Jonge, District Governor of Lions Clubs International District 105CW. Special Performance were given by UK’s Famous Nasheed Artist and Sufi Singer Ms Amina Sultani and Mr Qammar Ali Khan Ghouri a well known classical singer in the UK. Guest of Honour was Mr Ramesh Kamra, Vice Consul, Consulate General of India, Captain Durdana Ansari from Royal Navy and Sgt Shiv Chand from Royal Airforce from Community Engagement team of British Armed Forces and Councillor Ram Lakha were some of the VIPS. Also supporting the Ghazal Night were Lion Shibani Nagda, Lion Bimla from Sandwell Lions and Ms Shonali Dutta a well known Kathak Dancer. Tin Theatre was converted into an amazing ghazal venue by special decorators and event designers. Delicious food was provided by Friends Corner and the event was supported by so many prominent guests from the local community in Coventry who came to enjoy an evening of music, friendship, community cohesion and celebration of diversity.
