DOGANE celebrated its 16th annual function on 9 October 2021 at Edgbaston cricket stadium in Birmingham, UK

Birmingham: Dow Graduates Association of Northern Europe (DOGANE) celebrated its 16th annual function on 9 October 2021 at Edgbaston cricket stadium in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

This evening was largely attended by Dow graduates working in United Kingdom and their families. It was a very well organised event and the chief guest for the event was Mr Mike Nithavrianakis, British deputy high commissioner in Karachi.

The evening was full of festivities, laughter, entertainment, fun and a delicious three course meal. There were different exhibition stalls set up which attracted lot of interest. There were additional arrangements made for kids entertainment as well.

Earlier in the evening the Dow Graduates had their Annual General Meeting where the treasurer report was presented, and the new cabinet was launched which was unanimously ratified by the AGM. Later the function was formally started by recitation of verses from Holy Quran and followed by National anthem of Pakistan and UK.

President of DOGANE Dr Saqib Ghani in his address paid tribute to all the health care professional specially DOWITES who have lost their lives fighting COVID at forefront and highlighted the importance of vaccination programmed and emphasised people to participate in covid vaccination programme globally.

Mike Nithavrianakis, the deputy High Commissioner thanks all the healthcare professional for their extra ordinary contribution to NHS. He highlighted the health care support and charity conducted by DOGANE both in UK and Pakistan. He commended the philanthropic efforts of DOGANE and its members and highlighted his experiences with the recipients of these efforts in Karachi.

The annual charity funds, for which there was a collection on the night, will be going towards build Paediatric Operating Theatres at Civil Hospital Karachi, a project undertaken by the batch of Dow 1996, to commemorate their Silver Jubilee of graduation from Dow Medical College.

There was a note of thanks for all the executive and office bureau who have finished their term and the new executive and office bureau were welcomed.

The evening was concluded with brilliant Qawwali performance by dynamic Chand Ali Khan Qawwal and group which was thoroughly enjoyed by all the delegates.
