High Commissioner expresses deep grief at the murder of Jo Cox MP

H.E. Syed Ibne Abbas, Pakistan High Commissioner to the UK expressed deep sorrow and shock at the brutal murder of Jo Cox MP. He termed Ms Cox’s death a great loss for her family, the Labour party and the entire UK.In his condolence message to the family, the High Commissioner said he was deeply saddened at the heinous killing of Jo Cox MP. He stated that  Ms Cox was passionate humanist who served her community and worked for democracy untiringly. Her proud legacy of public service and her idealism would be long remembered in the annals of history, added the High Commissioner.Recalling her special relations with Pakistan, the High Commissioner said: “Ms Cox was the Secretary of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG), on Pakistan and we greatly cherish her association with our country. In her maiden speech as MP, Ms Cox fondly mentioned the people of Pakistan and Kashmir in her constituency which reflected her love and respect for diversity in the British society. In her death, Pakistan lost a true friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time.”The High Commissioner sent a similar message to Labour party leader Rt. Hon.Jeremy Corbin and expressed on behalf of the Government and the people of Pakistan, the entire staff of the High Commission and on his own behalf, sympathy and sincere condolences to the Labour party, the people of Britain and the bereaved family.
