High Commissioner condoles the death of veteran British politician Sir Gerald Kaufman MP


H.E. Syed Ibne Abbas, Pakistan High Commissioner to the UK has expressed deep grief over the sad demise of veteran British parliamentarian Sir Gerald Kaufman MP. In a condolence message to the Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and the relatives and friends of the deceased, the High Commissioner termed him a true friend of Pakistan who always stood for rightful causes, especially, the cause of the oppressed people of Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK). While the British Parliament lost Father of the House, in his death, Pakistan lost a trusted and genuine friend in Britain, added the High Commissioner.

In his message, the High Commissioner said: “The Government and the people of Pakistan are grieved on this sad occasion. Sir Gerald Kaufman was a larger than life and iconic figure who set high standards in politics and thus became a source of inspiration for aspiring parliamentarians. He will be long remembered for his continuous and unflinching support to the Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination.”

The High Commissioner termed the death of Sir Gerald Kaufman an irreparable loss and prayed for the departed soul. He said his thoughts are with the bereaved family at this difficult time.

In recognition of his services to build mutually beneficial relationships between Pakistan and the UK and to bring our two peoples closer to each other, Sir Gerald Kaufman was awarded Hilal-e-Pakistan by the Government of Pakistan.
