KCP has taken its team to deliver an innovative project with the Housing Associations HMO

Birmingham: KCP has taken its team to deliver an innovative project with the Housing Associations HMO. From in-house research and police reports Kal’s Community Projects has found there is a significant rise in crime and poor mental health among people living in HMOs. HMOs house a range of people which include the homeless, ex-gang members and those who are suffering from substance and/or alcohol abuse. KCP has identified a significant need among residents of HMOs and are currently working in collaboration with Safe Stop Housing to help and support the residents. KCP is working closely with Mr Shazad, the Director of Safe Stop Housing in supporting the residents through mentoring, a monthly food bank, wellbeing walks and an online mindfulness project. At the well-being event which was run by KCP a food bank was also provided by KCP which was accessible for all the residents of Safe Stop Housing. This event was attended by the Councillor Paulette Hamilton who is a cabinet member for Health and Social Care. Paulette praised the work done by KCP. She was also very happy with the careful planning by the KCP committee in ensuring the government social distancing guidelines were met. This event was also attended by KCP volunteers and staff members of Safe Stop Housing. KCP would like to thank their team members, volunteers, and everyone else who supported the event. KCP would also like to thank the West Midlands Police for supporting their work.
