British MPs reject Indian bid to settle Kashmir dispute unilaterally

London: Kashmir Solidarity Conference organised by Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK, hosted more than 40 UK Parliamentarians and British MP’s with all showing their strong support for peaceful resolution in KASHMIR SOLIDARITY DAY. This was the most successful Kashmir virtual conference since pandemic started. His Excellency Sardar Masood Khan President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir was chief guest speaker; and the Conference was chaired by Raja Fahim Kayani President Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK and moderated by Uzma Rasool Chair Diplomatic Bureau TeK UK

The event’s main focus was ‘discussing the unfair clampdown by India as an occupational force in Jammu and Kashmir; while condemning the ongoing human rights violations, again, by Indian security forces in the region’.

British Parliamentarians Robbie Moore MP, Gill Furniss MP Tony Lloyd MP, Steve Baker MP, Nadia Whittome MP, Yasmin Qureshi MP, Richard Burgon MP, Stephen Timms MP, Sarah Owen MP ,Rachel Hopkins MP, Paul Bristow MP, James Daly MP, Kate Hollern MP, Andrew Gwynne MP, Sara Britcliffe MP, Afzal Khan MP, Alison Thewliss MP, Rebecca Longbailey MP, Imran Hussain MP, John Spellar MP, Shabana Mahmood MP, Tahir Ali MP, Sam Tarry MP, Lillian Greenwood MP, Phil Bennion Former MEP, Liam Byrne MP, Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi MP, Lord Wajid Khan, Debbie Abraham MP , Hilary Benn MP, Paul Blomfield MP, Cheryl Gillan MP, Judith Cummins MP, Chi Onwurah MP and many other respectable names, have strongly highlighted the importance of the issue, while urging for immediate action for the human rights of the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. British MPs also condemned Modi government’s move to unilaterally repeal article 370 and 35A

With his powerful message His Excellency President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Masood Khan, pointing to a fact that, ‘The unfair clampdown by India as an occupational force in Jammu and Kashmir threatens the world peace! If the unfairness continues, the regional peace, hence the world peace will be in high risk… Because both sides (Pakistan and India) have nuclear powers. The international community should take this fact very seriously! While war itself is dangerous enough; an additional risk of a nuclear war is an extremely dangerous matter to risk. Not only for the region but for world peace, all the countries indeed need to sort this issue out’.

Warning of a genocide into the making in the IOK (Indian Occupied Kashmir) area, AJK President Sardar Masood Khan urged the international community ‘’to build pressure on Indian administration and to insist on a swift United Nations Security Council resolution with regards to IOK.

Stressing upon the urgency of the issue, the participating British leaders as well pointed to the facts about the ongoing human rights abuses in IOK and urged for a peaceful resolution.

The Kashmir Valley is under Indian siege since 5th august 2019, with all communication lines cut and political leaders placed under house arrest; while human rights abuses intensified by the Indian security forces, particularly towards the protesters and the vulnerable Kashmiri residents.

Raja Fahim Kayani President Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK, in his statement also highlighted the importance of the solidarity in the conference, hence sating:

‘I welcome and thank you all, especially the President of the State of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and the British Parliamentarians for attending this Kashmir Solidarity Conference and for expressing solidarity with the people of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir who living in the most militarized area in the world under brutal Indian occupation , Subjugation and oppression for last 73 years.

You all know what the Indian Army is doing to Kashmiris in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Army has killed thousands of Kashmiris and is using rape as a weapon of war in Kashmir. Kashmir Wants Your Attention!

We have seen genocidal fascists emerge throughout history like Hitler, Mussolini and many others. In places like Rwanda and the Balkans we have seen first hand what happens when the world turns a blind eye. It is imperative that MPs play their role in preventing a repeat of history before it is too late’.

With the powerful stand against human rights abuses, during the KASHMIR SOLIDARITY DAY, all the participants once more pointed that ‘the human rights violations in Kashmir is an extremely serious situation. Additionally, as the 2018 Report of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights highlighted, a resolution is desperately needed for the sake of the Kashmiri People.

Altaf Ahmad Bhat, who lost 22 members in Indian Occupied Kashmir sent a statement describing the urgency of the situation and his first-hand experience of Indian occupation, as he was unable to attend due to illness.
