Birmingham: The 31st Annual Seerat Conference took place at Masjid Ali Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaat. The conference was organised and hosted by Hafiz Adeel Tassawar, Chairman of Masjid Ali & son of the late Qari Tassawar Ul Haq who was the founder of Masjid Ali, Madrassah Qasim Ul Uloom and the Muslim Cultural Society.
The Annual Seerat Conference was a legacy built by Qari Tassawar, bringing together respected Ulemas and Islamic scholars, world renowned international Naat & Nasheed artists and Quran reciters to teach and reflect on the blessed aspects and lessons of the life of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
The event was officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Muhammad Afzal and was graced by the presence of the Right Reverend Bishop of Birmingham, Bishop David Urquhart who addressed the congregation and shared his reflections and the importance of coming together in faith.
Speeches were made by a variety of esteemed guests including Maulana Ibrahim, an Imam from Walsall. As part of the ongoing legacy of the Annual Seerat Conference, the first ever Interfaith Reception also took place with distinguished guests from various faith backgrounds including Christian, Sikh and Hindu representatives.
The guests were able to observe Maghrib prayers, hear the Tilawat of the Quran, listen to speeches about the Seerat, the life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and end with dinner & dialogue on common values as people from faith backgrounds and learnt more about the importance of the Seerat. This Interfaith Reception was organised and co-hosted by Councillor Mariam Khan and Hafiz Adeel Tassawar.
Another new addition to the Annual Seerat Conference were the activities in the Ladies section organised by Councillor Mariam Khan which included a variety of stalls and a dedicated space for children to be entertained during the course of the conference. The Masjid wants to encourage families to come together at events and use opportunities like this for the community and ensure that women with children feel comfortable and welcome to attend the Masjid. This was very much appreciated by those in attendance and many felt comfortable to stay and enjoy the food served by the Masjid at the end of of the conference.
Overall, the 31st Annual Seerat conference was a success and as a tradition which was started by the late Qari Tassawar Ul Haq, his successor, Hafiz Adeel Tassawar ended the conference by announcing the date for the next conference to be held on Sunday 28th August 2022.
