Tell Mama empowers taxi drivers against hate crime

Birmingham: Tell Mama held an important awareness event on hate crime reaching out to vulnerable taxi drivers who in recent months have been subjected to incidents of hate crime. In attendance was Raja Amin JP MBE President of the union for hackney carriage , Razia Tariq Hadait Director of Himaya Heaven,Abdullah Rehman MBE Chief Executive Balsall Heath Forum & Tell Mama outreach officer for the West Midlands, Julie Blackman ,Abid Hussain, Wajid Hussain Balathi, and others.The Session was delivered using the Kettering foundation Deliberative Democracy methodology and was extremely interactive allowing the drivers to raise their concerns and coming up with solutions that the Tell MAMA service could support by working with partners to resolve.All recorded concerns raised will be passed on to Tell Mama in order to influence change for them and to lobby on behalf of the concerned taxi drivers .Coverage by S M Irfan Tahir Photojournalist National Union of Journalists (NUJ) Great Britain.
