DFP praises rights experts for issuing report on violations in Kashmir

The Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) has praised independent United Nations human rights experts for issuing a report on the brazen violations of human rights in the disputed Jammu Kashmir.

The experts, in a report issued on March 31, have asked the Indian government to provide details about the continuing detention of a politician, the custodial killing of a shopkeeper and the disappearance of a teenager in Kashmir.

A DFP spokesperson said in a statement that the party has time and again apprised the world that India has placed its political opponents, such as DFP chairman Shabir Shah behind bars for mere their politics. The occupational forces and their local stooges are continuously working on a policy to impose silence in the disputed region by using arbitrary laws like UAPA, PSA etc.

He said that New Delhi must be made accountable for its crimes in the disputed region where people are demanding their right to self-determination so that they can determine their political future and the long pending Kashmir dispute is resolved once for all and according to the wishes of the people living on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC).

Meanwhile, DFP has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the passing away of a renowned Jammu-based Islamic scholar Mufti Faiz-ul-Waheed, who has translated Qur’an into Gojri language. Terming the demise of Mufti Faiz-ul-Waheed, as a great loss, the party spokesperson in a condolence message paid tributes to the late scholar and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
