The first-ever Iftar event was held at Acorns Children’s Hospice in Solihull

Solihull: The first-ever Iftar event was held at Acorns Children’s Hospice in Solihull, marking a historic occasion where a distinguished group of individuals gathered to enjoy each other’s company and break their fast together.

This initiative, brought to life by CEO Trevor Johnson, was a heartwarming success. The attendees had the privilege of hearing from service users, the Pakistani Consulate’s Ms. Bukhtawar Mir, and Acorns Children’s Hospice CEO Trevor Johnson. Operating the hospice facilities costs Acorns £35,000 daily, with the organisation relying heavily on charitable donations, as it is only 29% government-funded.

Acorns cares for 800 children, though this represents only 15% of those in need of support. Half of those requiring assistance are children from South Asian heritage. The hospice not only provides palliative care but also supports children with long-term illnesses and their families affected by these conditions. A special thanks was given to all the staff and attendees for their support and participation.
