Birmingham is in crisis. Despite a staggering 7.5% council tax hike under Labour-run Birmingham City Council, residents have been abandoned. The most basic and essential service—waste collection—has collapsed.

Mountains of rubbish lie rotting on our streets. Rats, maggots, and cats scavenge through the filth. The air is thick with stench. This is no longer just an eyesore—it’s a serious public health emergency. We are staring down the barrel of a disease outbreak. Families, children, the elderly—everyone is at risk. Yet the council has failed to act. Over 17,000 tonnes of waste are piling up, and the situation worsens by the day. It’s time for the government to step in.

The dispute with unions must be resolved swiftly and fairly. Workers deserve a fair deal—but the people of Birmingham deserve to live in clean, safe conditions. Until a resolution is reached, we need immediate action. Deploy the army. Just as they did during the waste crisis of the 1970s, the armed forces must be mobilised to restore hygiene and dignity to our streets. Only with their manpower and logistical power can we quickly remove the backlog and prevent further disaster.

Birmingham deserves better. Enough is enough
