Memorable Eid Celebration was held at the Bosnia House in Birmingham
Birmingham: The Bosnia and Herzegovina UK Network, along with the BH Association Birmingham, orchestrated a memorable Eid Celebration at Bosnia House in Birmingham.
The event featured the esteemed Bosnian Chief Imam for the UK as a special guest, who delivered a universal message promoting peace, love, tolerance, unity, and harmony, while emphasising the significance of Eid festivals in the Muslim community. Serving as hosts were two young Bosnian girls, Neyra and Hana.
Dignitaries present included President of the Bosnia UK Network, Zaim Pasic; Chairman of Remembering Srebrenica UK, Dr. Waqar Azmi OBE; Reverend Toby Vicar; and Anes Cerec, Manager of Bosnia UK Network. They shared their perspectives and feelings, highlighting the remarkable progress of the Bosnian community in the UK, which extends support and guidance to newcomers from Bosnia as well as refugees from areas such as Ukraine and Syria.
The celebration was further enhanced by recitations from the Holy Quran, performances by Bosnian children showcasing Naat, Nasheed, and various songs, adding to the festive spirit of Eid. Towards the conclusion, honorary shields and souvenirs were presented to individuals from diverse sectors who have made invaluable contributions to the Bosnian community in the UK.
Recipients included Chairman Remembering Srebrenica UK Dr. Waqar Azmi OBE, Councilor Martin Brooks, Councilor Rashad Mahmood, Sabit Jakupovic MBE, S M Irfan Tahir, Chief imam Sedin Sahman and others. Former Bosnian primary school teacher Azra Basic mesmerised the audience with her rendition of a self-written Bosnian song, earning a standing ovation. The event was attended by esteemed members of the Bosnian community and friends from both local and distant regions, who extended their warm greetings and enjoyed the vibrant festivities of Eid.
