BRIGHT TALENT FROM THE MUSIC INDUSTRY LIT UP THE STAGE WITH SPARKLING PERFORMANCES AT NEWHAM UNDER THE STARS

Bright talent from the music industry lit up the stage with sparkling performances at Newham Under The Stars in London in front of nearly 7,000 people, who turned out in force at Central Park in East Ham. The celebration of South Asian culture featuring chart-topping music stars, exciting newcomers and legends from the British Asian music industry from diverse genres is one of the biggest ever Friday night concerts staged in the UK.

Hosted by radio personality Nadia Ali and DJ/rapper Anj Baig, the fabulous Friday night extravaganza opened with high-energy performances by dance group 4ALL2ENVY entertainment and percussion group Dhol Frequency.

Acclaimed band Side Partition then delivered a breath-taking performance, which included their unique spin on hit Bollywood songs and they were followed by pop singer Avina Shah, who has been riding high on the success of her recent smash hit Playboy.

Popular singer and Newham local Mumzy Stranger then turned up the heat with a sizzling set featuring hot young talents Nish, Rupika and DJ Kye. Bhangra star H-Dhami then took to the stage with a turbo-charged performance that had everyone dancing and that amazing momentum continued with Scottish singer Rameet Sandhu, who had thousands in the crowd jumping to her tunes. “The energy of the crowd was just amazing and one of the best I have ever experienced,” said Rameet.

She then returned to join headline act Dr Zeus, who lit up the stage with his biggest live set ever in the UK, which was loaded with special guests. These included explosive singer Zora Randhawa, who flew in from India for the show, DJ Harpz and a surprise appearance by YouTube sensation Rahim Pardesi. The red-hot set also featured singers Rajveer, Manny Kooner, Ezu and Preet Singh along with music legends Bhota Jagpal, Kam Frantic and Juggy Kular.

Dr Zeus dedicated the heavyweight performance to his fans in the UK. “I have done work internationally, but the UK will always be home to me and I will never forget the fans here. We worked hard to deliver them the biggest set I have ever done in the UK and I am proud of the way my team delivered. Big thanks to all the people of Newham for showing us so much love,” said Dr Zeus.

The evening concert also included a charity collection for The Magpie Project, which provides help to parents and children under five at risk of homelessness. There was an array of stalls at the family friendly event including a free photo-booth and free henna from top artists. This was one of four concerts that happened across four days celebrating diversity in the East London borough.

Newly elected mayor Rokhsana Fiaz OBE had admirably led a team that had delivered the fabulous four-day extravaganza. “What a tremendous collective effort from an incredible range of artists who lit up Newham’s Under The Stars. And of course my biggest stars were our local residents who created such an amazing atmosphere in response to the great musical performances across four days. I’m really looking forward to welcoming everyone to another music under the stars extravaganza in Newham next year,” said Rokhsana Fiaz.
