Kashmir Supporters Rally in London Against Indian Demographic Policies

London, August 5: Supporters of Jammu and Kashmir gathered outside 10 Downing Street and marched towards the Indian High Commission in London on Tuesday , protesting against what they described as “Indian demographic terrorism” in the region.
The demonstration marked the sixth anniversary of India’s abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A of its Constitution—provisions that had granted Jammu and Kashmir special autonomous status and reaffirmed that the disputed nature of the region could not be changed unilaterally. Protesters condemned the move as a violation of international law and an attempt to alter the Muslim-majority demography of the region.
The protest was led by Fahim Kayani, President of All Parties Kashmir Alliance UK and Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK, who stated:
“This march is a message to the world that we reject Indian demographic terrorism and demand justice for the people of Kashmir.”
Kayani also criticised UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer for hosting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying:
“Keir Starmer welcomed Modi at his residence—Modi is the architect of the racist Hindutva ideology. The BJP regime led by Modi is committing atrocities in Kashmir and has imprisoned thousands of Kashmiris under draconian black laws. Starmer must not prioritise trade over human lives. Ignoring the cries of the oppressed is against British values. We demand that the UK government impose sanctions on India until it ends human rights violations and holds a plebiscite in Kashmir.”
Participants held placards, chanted pro-Kashmir slogans, and urged the British government to take a strong stance against India’s actions in Kashmir—including the immediate release of political prisoners and the restoration of civil liberties.
Prominent Kashmiri figures including Ch. Muhammad Yasin (Opposition Leader AJK), Dr Khalid Mehmood (Former Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami AJK), Sardar Usman Ali Khan (Chairman MC Youth Wing), Inam-ul-Haq Khawajah (Secretary General APIKCC), Muhammad Ghalib, Fazal Ahmed Qadri, and others demanded the immediate release of all Kashmiri political leaders, including Masarat Alam, Yasin Malik, Shabir Shah, Asiya Andrabi, and Dr Abdullah Hameed Fiaz.
The speakers warned that continued global silence over the Kashmir dispute is dangerous, stating:
“The unresolved Kashmir issue could trigger a nuclear war between India and Pakistan. The international community must act now.”
Protesters also called on the United Nations to send a fact-finding mission to Indian-occupied Kashmir and to ensure the implementation of UN resolutions that guarantee the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
