Launch Birmingham Council of Mosques (BCM) at Council House
Birmingham: Launching ceremony of Birmingham Council of Mosques at Council House Victoria Square.This is for the first time in the history of Birmingham that a unique organization is formed to provide effective leadership and support to the muslim community. The concept behind the formation of this organization is to develop the advancement of the muslim community, to promote the better understanding of Islam, interfaith relations, civic engagement and to build positive bridges between communities. A slogan of One Ummah, One Voice and One Council was raised during the opening speech by Imam Shahed Tameez Chairman Birmingham Council of Mosques (BCM). Other speakers of this meeting included the Lord Mayor of Birmingham Councillor Anne Underwood, West Midlands Chief Police Constable Thompson, West Midlands Fire Service Lee Baker, Council General of Pakistan Birmingham Ahmer Ismail. Presentation by Jawad Khan, Mahmood Dahilla, Rasib Hussain shed some light on the aims and initiative of this council. The Closing Speech was given by Shaykh Arif.
