UK based medical organization to train AJK University students
MUZAFFARABAD, Jan 15: Renowned international charitable organization, Midlands Doctors Association UK will impart training to students of the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Muzaffarabad.
In this connection, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on Saturday.
The MoU signing ceremony held at the City Campus of the university was attended by Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi, Chairman of the Midland Doctors Association Dr. Syed Yousuf Iftikhar, Associate Dean, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, UAJK, Dr. Bashir-ur-Rehman Kanth, Dean Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Prof. Dr. Haroon-ur-Rasheed, Director Quality Enhancement Cell, Dr. Ayaz Arif, Controller Examination, Dr. Sharjeel Saeed and a large number of students and the faculty members.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi lauded the social service of the Midland Doctors Association, especially in the field of health. He said that the students of the Department of Health and Medical Sciences of the university were fortunate to have an opportunity of getting training of international standards in their respective disciplines.
The Vice-Chancellor said that after realizing the shortage of manpower in the medical field in Pakistan and AJK, the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences was established thirteen years ago in 2009 and since then the university has been running very successfully various programs including BS Public Health, BS Cardiology, Radiology, and Clinical Laboratory.
The Vice-Chancellor emphasized that the treatment of patients is a noble profession but educating and imparting medical skills to the youth is an even greater noble cause.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Syed Yousuf Iftikhar, Chairman, Midlands Doctors Association, said that education is the greatest strength and fundamental factor for the development and prosperity of a country. We will strive to provide state-of-the-art training to the students of Azad Jammu and Kashmir University with the resources of the Association’s Tandali Hospital and the medical technology available there.
Dean Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences Dr. Bashir-ur-Rehman Kanth and Dr. Muhammad Saleem Abbasi highlighted the services of Dr. Syed Yousuf Iftikhar, Chairman Midland Doctors Association, and said that he has been active in delivering social services in Azad Kashmir for over 18 years.
Thousands of people are benefiting from the hospital he has built at Tandali in the outskirt of Muzaffarabad by collecting donations from all over the world and now the clinical training of health sciences’ students is another big initiative of his association, which will have far-reaching effects on our society in the future, they said.
