THE SOARING STARS OF PARWAAZ HAI JUNOON LAND IN LONDON FOR EUROPEAN PREMIERE

Thursday 23rd August, London – Yesterday saw A List stars of Pakistani cinema descend upon London for the European Red Carpet Premiere of the highly anticipated film Parwaaz Hai Junoon at The May Fair Hotel, ahead of its release on 24th August 2018.

A story of youth, courage, love and patriotism, Parwaaz Hai Junoon is a rousing tribute to Pakistan’s Air Force, produced by Momina & Duraid Films and HUM Films in association with the Pakistan Air Force and written by author and screenwriter Farhat Ishtiaq (Bin Roye). Parwaaz Hai Junoon marks the second production from Momina Duraid, the force behind 2015’s critically acclaimed film Bin Roye, one of Pakistan’s biggest international hits, particularly in the UK.

The formidable cast of the film which include Hania Amir, superstar Hamza Ali Abbasi, and rising star Ahad Raza Mir were in attendance along with the producer Momina Duraid. The red carpet was followed by an exclusive screening of the film which received a rapturous applause from all present.

The screening was then followed by an intimate Q&A with BBC News and BBC Asian Network Entertainment Reporter Haroon Rashid.

A unique tribute to Pakistan’s Air Force, who worked with the filmmakers on the creation of the film, Parwaaz Hai Junoon promises to depict the daily lives of cadets at a typical Air Force Academy, as they laugh, make mistakes and develop the core values of integrity, courage and honour. The film follows Sania (Hania Amir), a young cadet who must fight against preconceived notions of gender roles to pursue her dream of becoming an ace pilot.

Answering a question on her own reaction to the film, Hania Amir said: “I went into Parwaaz Hai Junoon when I was 19 and looking back I feel it’s the best decision that I ever made. It was like a personal moment of truth; a challenge to find how much I could do as a lead actress. Thank you to the Momina ji and the producers for giving me this opportunity of a lifetime”.

The film also subverts the misinformed clichés that appear in international media about Pakistan through depicting the country’s fight against terrorism. Parwaaz Hai Junoon smashes the stereotypes that surround Pakistan to instead showcase the role Pakistan plays in safeguarding the region from terrorist threats. “This movie will bring a revolution in Pakistan and with Naya Pakistan the sky is the limit. We hope audiences living both in and outside Pakistan will appreciate the hard work we have put in making Parwaaz Hai Junoon. Pakistan has given us so much; it’s our turn to return and do something for Pakistan” said Hamza Ali Abbasi.

Produced by Momina & Duraid Films and distributed by HUM Films, Parwaaz Hai Junoon is set to release worldwide on 24th August 2018.
