Tehreek-e-Kashmir across UK, Europe tears down Indian propaganda
BIRMINGHAM – To commemorate 75 years of illegal occupation of Kashmir by India, Tehreek-e-Kashmir (TeK) UK and EU held demonstrations and hosted physical and virtual conferences in various cities across Europe, urging international community to press India to prepare for a free and fair plebiscite in Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIoJK).
Lawmakers, professionals, activists, youth, student and business leaders joined these events in solidarity with people of IIoJK who are facing crisis of human and universal fundamental rights.
Participants carried placards and raised slogans against Indian atrocities and demanded India must leave Kashmir and plebiscite must be held under the supervision of the UN.
Muhammad Ghalib, president TeK Europe , Fahim Kayani President TeK UK , Mehmood Sharif Senior Vice President TeK Europe and Secretary General TeK Europe Mian Tayyib in a joint statement said Tehreek-e-Kashmir commemorated the illegal occupation of Kashmir by India holding week-long events.
“It is to raise awareness and urge international intervention in IIoJK to end this illegal occupation by India,” they said. “With these events, it is evident that the Indian propaganda in Europe is being teared down. No one can stand in front of the fact that Kashmiris want India to vacate their homeland as soon as possible.”
The diaspora leaders said the persistent campaigns by TeK has cemented Kashmir voice in the region as native Europeans are woken up to truths. “People in Europe have started posing right questions to India, asking it to allow Kashmiris vote in a free and fair plebiscite.”
The events commenced with a Kashmir Conference in Danish parliament on 23rd October, hosted by TeK leader Adeel Asi.
TeK UK President Fahim Kayani organized Kashmir Youth Conference in which student leaders of different British universities and British lawmakers participated and demanded an immediate resolution of the Kashmir issue as per the wishes of the Kashmiris in accordance with the UN resolutions.
In another event, Kayani led demonstrations outside Indian consulate in Birmingham.
Fahim said: “Indian occupation of Kashmir turned into colonisation since 5th August 2019. India is following the Israeli model settler colonialism which is only condemned by the world powers but it must be forcibly stopped.”
“The Indian settler colonialism will pave the way for third genocide of Kashmiris, the history has witnessed how half a million of Jammu Muslims were merciless killed in 1947 and second genocide of Kashmir took place when popular uprising started in 1989 and India killed more than hundred thousand Kashmiris to suppress the voices against Indian occupation of Kashmir,” he warned.
TeK Norway organized a protest demonstration outside Indian embassy in the country.
Shah Hussain Kazmi, leader of TeK Norway, led the protests and said the deployment of one million Indian occupying troops in IIoJK itself rejects the notion of normalcy in Kashmir.
He lambasted India for clamping down on media and said many Kashmir-based journalists were arrested, harassed and stopped from working.
TeK Scotland President Hanif Raja led anti-India demonstrations in Glasgow.
“India’s false narrative that Kashmir is integral part of India has been rejected on all international platforms. Indian civil can’t be fooled anymore on Kashmir because through social media and other mediums have exposed brutal face of the Indian army in Kashmir. India boots used all tactics from killing to rape to make Kashmiris give up their demand the right to self-determination but Kashmiri have proved that they will never accept Indian rule on Kashmir. India can control Kashmir through military might but can’t rule on Kashmir,” he said.
Khalid Mehmood Butt president TeK Berlin thanked the protesters for participating in the Kashmir black day protest and urged the protesters to engage their German MPs on Kashmir.
TeK Italy hosted a virtual conference which was joined by Lord Qurban Hussain, Mehmood Saghar, Convenor All Parties Hurriyat Conference; Fahim Kayani, president TeK UK; Aqsa Nawaz, Counsel General of Milan Consulate; Shaffaq Mohammed, Ex. Prominent Kashmiri leader and ambassador of Kashmiri aspirations Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai addressed the conference virtually from Washington, where he is currently secretary general of US-based World Kashmir Awareness Forum.
TeK UK leader Kayani also addressed the participants urging Spanish students to study Kashmir and push forward narrative of native Kashmiris in academia.
