London: Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK Leaders Express Condolences on the Passing of the Mother of Hurriyat Leaders Zafar Akbar Bhat and Altaf Ahmed Bhat

Fahim Kayani, President of the All Parties International Kashmir Coordination Committee and Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK, along with Mohammed Ghalib, President of Tehreek-e-Kashmir Europe, have expressed deep sorrow and heartfelt condolences on the passing of the respected mother of senior Hurriyat leaders Zafar Akbar Bhat and Altaf Ahmed Bhat in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

In their joint statement, the leaders said that the passing of Altaf Ahmed Bhat’s mother is not only a personal loss for the bereaved family but also a profound loss for the Kashmir freedom movement. They described her life as a symbol of patience, sacrifice, and steadfast commitment to the cause of freedom.

They paid tribute to her immense sacrifices, noting that despite enduring unimaginable hardships, she remained steadfast and dignified. One of her sons embraced martyrdom in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir; another, Zafar Akbar Bhat, remains imprisoned in Indian jails, while Altaf Ahmed Bhat continues to live in exile in Pakistan and was unable to attend his mother’s funeral—reflecting the painful realities faced by countless Kashmiri families affected by the conflict.

The statement further highlighted that the mothers of occupied Jammu and Kashmir represent a remarkable chapter of courage and resilience in the history of the freedom movement. These brave women have sacrificed their sons, endured separation and suffering, yet kept alive the hope of freedom in their hearts.

Kayani and Ghalib prayed that Almighty Allah grants the departed soul the highest place in Jannah and gives patience and strength to the bereaved family during this difficult time.

They reiterated that the sacrifices of Kashmiri families—especially mothers who have borne the heaviest burdens of the struggle—will never be forgotten and will continue to inspire future generations in their pursuit of justice and the right to self-determination.
