Escalation in Kashmir: The need for Intervention
London: Tehreek-e-Kashmir (TeK) United Kingdom (UK) on Thursday organised a webinar in connection with International Human Rights Day to seek the world’s attention to end the rising human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K). The conference was chaired by President TeK UK Raja Fahim Kayani and moderated by Uzma Rasool from London who has successfully moderated many conferences.
On the occasion the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Sardar Masood Khan said that the world must take the notice of human rights abuses in IIOJ&K and emphasised that individuals and organisations should vehemently raise the Kashmir dispute at every global forum to halt India from the genocide of Kashmiris.
” Now India is grabbing the land and demolishing the homes of nomads in IIOJ&K which shows how swiftly the Indian Government is working to follow the pattern of Israel in IIOJ&K. Such acts from the Modi government may put the whole peace of South Asia at stake,” President Khan added.
Governor of Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar thanked TeK and commented that TeK is one of the oldest organisations of UK and it has been working tirelessly to highlight the sufferings of the people of IIOJ&K at an international level for the last four decades.
Governor Sarwar congratulated Fahim Kayani for organising such a successful Kashmir conference on world Human Rights Day. Kayani is a pioneer of Kashmir virtual diplomacy highlighting that he was the first to initiate online conferences when the pandemic started.
The Governor further said that Kashmir runs in the blood of every Pakistani and we assure the people of IIOJ&K that Pakistan will continue to support them in the right of self-determination struggle.
Steve Baker MP analysed the complex geopolitical situation regarding China in the region and said the world must settle the Jammu and Kashmir dispute as per the wishes of Kashmiris. Kashmiri sufferings must come to an end.
Afzal Khan MP said more delay in the settlement of IIOJ&K will heighten tension in the region and emphasized the recent EU Disinfo report that has exposed a network of fake NGOs acting as Indian propaganda tools.
” People of Kashmir must be given their right of self-determination granted by the United Nations and more delay in the plebiscite is injustice with people of IIOJ&K, ” MP Khan added.
Phillip Bennion, a former MEP said it is now the duty of world to honour and respect the human rights of Kashmiri people who are fighting for their political rights.
Muhammad Yasin MP said that India should respect the UN resolutions and immediately conduct the plebiscite in IIOJ&K to end the sufferings of the people of Kashmir and let them decide about their future.
Cllr Mushtaq Mughal said that he is direct victim of Indian atrocities committed by Indian army at the line of control .His house was reduced to ashes by indiscriminate shelling by Indian army at the line of control and the house was situated five kilometres away from the line of control. He further said that he is a British citizen and it is responsibility of British Government to ask Indian government about the destruction of the house of a British citizen in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
President TeK UK Kayani said that India is violating the basic rights in IIOJ&K to cement the illegal occupation that needs the global attention on a humanitarian basis.
” Besides political the IIOJ&K is also a humanitarian issue that must be settled on the basis of humanity, ” Kayani added.
