Altaf Wani condemns NIA’s bid to seek death sentence for JKLF chief Muhammad Yasin Malik, terms it BJP 2024 election project

Islamabad:  Veteran Rights activist and leader All Parties Hurriyat Conference Altaf Hussain Wani has strongly condemned the Indian National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) recent move seeking death sentence for Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chief Muhammad Yasin Malik.

Terming the NIA’s move as a deep-rooted conspiracy, Mr. Wani, while citing the dreaded Agency’s terrible record, said that the so-called agency which works on the whims and fancies of the Hindu nationalist regime was hell bent on eliminating the Kashmiri leadership that has refused to accept the Indian dictates.

The APHC leader said that Malik was one of those proud sons of the soil who stood his ground and didn’t budge even a single inch from his stated position on Kashmir. He said that the incarcerated JKLF chairman and other Hurriyat leaders who continue to languish in Indian jails were being punished and victimised for their uncompromising stance on the issue of Kashmir.

Urging international human rights bodies to take effective cognisance of the matter, Wani said that the international community needs to realize the fact that the BJP was using Kashmiri leaders as scapegoats to advance its communal agenda.

He said that the BJP has a worst track record of whipping up anti-Kashmir and anti-Muslim sentiments to appease its losing vote bank.

He said that the NIA’s bid to seek a death sentence for the JKLF chairman was a part of the apartheid regime’s plan to regain its popularity in India and win election in 2024.

He said that the BJP wooed voters during the 2018 elections by including abrogation of article 370 in its election manifesto and after realizing that the party was losing popularity, the anti-Muslim regime wanted the Kashmiri leader hanged to win next elections.

He said that along with JKLF chairman, dozens of Hurriyat leaders, iShabbir Ahmed Shah, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Nayeem Ahmed Khan , Massrat Alam Butt, Shahidul Islam, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Ayaz Muhammad Akbar, Raja Merajuddin Kawl, Peer  Saifullah, Syeda Asia Andrabi, Fahmida Sofi , Nahida Nasreen, Bilal Sadiqqi Yasmeen Raja , advocate Zumradh Habib and others have been booked under various sections of draconian law Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and Indian Penal Code (IPC).
