Special Tribute paid to Business Tycoon of the West Midlands Mr Nazir Awan

Birmingham: Mr Nazir Awan was born on 28th February 1953 in Peshawar, Pakistan. His father Haji Mohammed Bashir Ahmed Awan was a Servicemen in the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), who arrived at the UK in 1962. He was a hardworking Businessmen who founded Awan Marketing International.

The business was established further by his two elder sons, late Mr Nazir Awan and Mr Nasir Awan MBE.  Mr Nazir Awan was 11 years old when he arrived in the UK in 1964. He has two sisters and three brothers named Nasreen Awan (Died in 2006), Parveen Awan, Dr Nasir Awan MBE – DL Deputy Lord Lieutenant of West Midlands, CEO Awan Marketing Int Plc, Director Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, Munir Awan and Iftikhar Awan – President Muslims for Britain UK.

Nazir Awan was the eldest sibling in his family and was a grandfather to six grandchildren. He went to Upper Thomas Street School, Aston Birmingham, then Studied Mechanical Engineering at Brooklyn Technical College City and Guilds of London Institute in Mechanical Engineering.

He was a production Engineer at G.K.N. group Ltd from June 1976 till 1979. Mr Nazir Awan was the Managing Director of Awan Marketing Plc Birmingham, United Kingdom from Aug 1981 – Dec 2005, involved in the import, export and wholesale of consumer goods. He was also a Managing Director of Awan Real Estate Ltd T/A Awan International since 2006. His role involved dealing with investment property portfolios. He was also Partner of Awan Corp. UK since Apr 2006, involved in trading consumer products locally, as well as exports to Europe , North Africa, Nigeria, South Africa. Former Director of Birmingham Chamber of Commerce Asian Business Associations.

Mr Awan has a very influential and energetic personality who served his whole life for the betterment of the community. According to the Asian Rich List 2005 He was multimillionaire Businessmen with a Net worth of 22 Million Pounds. He was involved in many charitable works and community engagement projects.

Last Saturday he was admitted to Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield due to Coronavirus symptoms and placed on a ventilator. He departed this world on Wednesday 9th April 2020, at the age of 67. He liked sports activities, entertainment and healthy food.

He was a motivational speaker and business adviser. He has left his wife Nasreen Awan, his son Amer Khan Awan, daughter Noori Awan. As well as many other friends, colleagues, admirers and followers of his legacy. He was a very close friend of Business Community leaders Ishtiaq Latif, Pervaiz Akhtar, Fadel Takrouri and others. He will remain alive always in the hearts of hundreds and thousands of people around the world. May Allah grant him the highest rank in Jannat ul Firdous. Ameen

His grieving son and business partner Amer Khan Awan, 44, said: “He touched so many hearts- he was a great advisor and a mentor to us all. His grandchildren loved him. He always told me to treat everybody equally, be humble and compassionate.

Our surname is Awan which means to help others. He would say, your grandfather helped others, I do everything for the community and you must do the same and serve humanity. I feel very proud of him. I was blessed to have a father like him.

He will be missed dearly by not just the family but the whole of the community”.

His Daughter & Son in Law Noori & Muddassir Said: “My Father was my inspiration. He has touched so many peoples hearts, INSHALLAH I will carry on his legacy. May he circle the throne of Allah Subhanawatallah in Jannah with the other Shaheed. He will always live in our hearts”.

Abid Khan Said: “A big loss for everyone. Nazir Awan was a pillar of the community loved by many. He shall be greatly missed”.

Aziz Rahman Said: “Nazir Awan was a giant amongst men; he lived life to the maximum and bought huge joy, love and care to everybody he met. We are heartbroken and the world is a poorer place without him. May Allah bless his soul and give his family and friends patience to endure this tragic loss”.

He was an extremely active member of the community and always willing to show his support for great causes. Fahim Kayani said: “Really saddened to hear of the death of our friend Nazir Awan. May Allah grant him Jannat ul Firdous. He was a prominent businessman. He was extremely supportive towards all humanitarian causes, especially the Kashmir cause. We often used to discuss different aspects of Kashmir issue. Prior to the coronavirus outbreak in march, my last conversation with him was about how we could engage the Pakistani business community to strengthen the Kashmir cause in the United Kingdom. He said that without the financial support of Pakistani business community we cannot make a difference at an international level.He used to share these kinds of ideas with me.He always contributed financially to make Kashmir events successful.
