Condemns India’s bid to open liquor shops in Kashmir

Islamabad: Voicing his serious concern over the prevailing dire political and human rights situation in occupied Kashmir, the acting chairman Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party Mehmood Ahmed Saghar has urged the world human rights organisations to take notice of India’s naked aggression against unarmed and defenceless civilians in the troubled region.

In a statement issued here on Monday the DFP leader while condemning the continued bloodshed of Kashmiri youth at the hands of occupation forces said that Indian brutalities has increased to an alarming level in occupied Kashmir. Referring to the killing of Kashmiri youth in Srinagar, he said that it was quite unfortunate that the so-called civilised world was silent on the systematic genocide of Kashmiri youth who are being maimed, murdered and massacred by Indian forces day in and day out.

Terming it as a worst example of state terrorism he asked the international community, particularly the United Nations to take serious action against India and hold it accountable for its crimes being committed against Kashmirs.

Taking strong exception to Indian authorities’ move to open up liquor shops in Kashmir Saghar said that the valiant people of Kashmir would never allow any such thing to happen in Kashmir. Kashmiris, he said, have a history of foiling India’s nefarious designs aimed at destroying Kashmiris’ social and cultural ethos. He said that in the early 80s similar attempts were made by New Delhi but these vicious attempts were foiled through a vibrant and statewide anti-liquor campaign, which he said was organised and spearheaded by Shabir Ahmed Shah. He said that the DFP under the guidance of its incarcerated party chairman would soon chalk out a comprehensive policy to thwart the BJP government’s conspiracy, which he said was a direct attack on Kashmiris’ culture and religion.
